How to Use the CMS Editor: Header and Footer Menu

Customise the header and footer menu of your CMS — use global settings for your default landing page or create different navigations for each destination.

📒 NOTE

Before editing the header menu, press the Migrate from old CMS button. From then on, you will be able to edit the header menu from the Editor. Any changes made to the navigation in the Ventrata dashboard will be ignored.

If the destination does not yet have a destination-specific menu, you can choose to either:

  • clone the existing global menu and change only parts of it by pressing the Clone existing menu button, or

  • create a new menu from scratch using the Create empty menu button

Header Menu

Add New Item

Add a new top-level link.

  1. Select a destination or set a global menu for all destinations.

  2. Press the Add Item button.

  3. Select a link to existing content.

    Each link is labelled with the appropriate destination. Make sure to select the appropriate content for the destination.


  4. Enter a link 'Title'. This is the text that will appear in the navigation.

    Use the language toggles to enter the translated version of the link title.

  5. Press the Add Item button to save your changes.

  6. Drag and drop each link to the desired position.

  7. Press the Publish button to save and publish the updated header menu.

Add Submenu

Create a top-level menu item. Add new items that link to pages or articles underneath and appear as dropdown lists.

  1. Select a destination or set a global menu for all destinations.

  2. Press the Submenu button.

  3. Keep the 'Link to' option set to 'Submenu (no link)'.

  4. Enter a link 'Title'. This is the text that will appear in the navigation.

    📗 TIP

    You can change the location of the parent menu in the selection below the 'Title' field. Expand the 'Parent menu' selector and select the new top-level menu.

  5. Press the Add Item button to save your changes.

  6. Press the + Add item button in the submenu row to add new links.

  7. Select a link to existing content.

Footer Menu

Customise the footer menu of your CMS — one for your default landing page without a destination selected, and one for each destination.

📒 NOTE

Before editing the footer menu, press the Migrate from old CMS button. From then on, you will be able to edit the footer menu from the Editor. Any changes made to the navigation in the Ventrata dashboard will be ignored.
