FareHarbor is a popular booking software used by small and medium-sized tour and activity businesses around the world.

This operator connection (also referred to as backend) allows you to connect with other operators using FareHarbor as their booking system to resell their products through Ventrata more efficiently and automatically. The capabilities of this connection include:

  • Syncing availability and pricing from your operator's FareHarbor system.

  • Posting bookings, updates, and cancellations from Ventrata to FareHarbor.

  • Receiving vouchers/tickets from your operator's FareHarbor system and issuing them to your customers.

Please note that FareHarbor may charge you (the distributor / reseller) fees for using this connection, which may vary depending on your transaction volume. As a Ventrata-powered distributor, you may be eligible for a discount. For more details, please contact FareHarbor directly.

Configuring Operator Backend

Before You Begin:

  1. If you have not previously connected with an operator using FareHarbor, you will need to first register as a Distributor with FareHarbor and enter into an agreement regarding the connection fees they may charge.

To initiate this process, please email [email protected] and cc [email protected] and [email protected] and request a disubutor agreement, providing the following information about your business:

    • Company's Trading Name:

    • Company's VAT Number:

    • Company's Address:

    • Contact Information of the Signatory:

      • Full Name:

      • Email Address:

      • Title:

    • List of FareHarbor-powered businesses you wish to connect with

    • Estimated annual sales volume for the connection

    • List of URLs on your website where you plan to sell products (if applicable).

    • Be sure to mention you're Ventrata user!

FareHarbor usually charges a one-time connection fee of EUR 1,000 and an annual maintenance fee of EUR 1,000 if your sales are below EUR 250,000 per year. Ventrata clients often receive a 50% discount on the initial connection fee. Pricing details should be confirmed and negotiated directly with FareHarbor and outlined in your agreement. Ventrata does not charge additional fees for using this connection.

Once you have an agreement in place, either [email protected] or [email protected] will provide you with your Fareharbor User Key which you will need to configure a connection with operators using FareHarbor.

If you already have an agreement with FareHarbor and connected with their users previously, you should already have your Fareharbor User Key.

  2. Contact your operator using FareHarbor and

  3. In the Ventrata Dashboard, navigate to Products → Operators, and select the FareHarbor-powered operator for which you would like to set up the connection.

  4. In the Backend Partner section, choose FareHarbor from the list of available connections and enter the OCTO API Key provided to you by your operator. Unless otherwise instructed by the operator, leave the OCTO Endpoint field with the default pre-filled value.

  5. Click Update Operator to save the configuration.

Mapping Products

Once the operator has been configured with its backend, you can proceed to Product Mapping—the process of connecting your Ventrata products and options with the corresponding products and options from the operator's FareHarbor system:

  1. In the Ventrata Dashboard, navigate to Products → Products and select the product you would like to map to the operator's FareHarbor system.

  2. Edit the product and ensure the Operator is set to the correct operator to which this product belongs, where you have already configured the backend.

  3. Check Backend Connected for this product to use the API connection (backend). To pull availability from FareHarbor, ensure Backend Availability is checked; to pull pricing, check Backend Pricing. If you do not check Backend Availability and/or Backend Pricing, the product will use the availability and/or pricing configured in Ventrata but will still post bookings to FareHarbor. Click Update Product to save.

  4. The product page will now display a Mappings tab. Navigate to this tab and map your Ventrata product, option(s), and units by selecting the corresponding products, options, and units from the dropdown lists as received from FareHarbor. Ensure that no fields are left empty (unmapped), and click Save Changes.
