Command mode is a type of external payment developed by Ventrata. It enables the user to use one device for booking and a second device for payment.
Settings
Prerequisites:
The Ventrata terminal app must be installed on both devices
The external payment device must be assigned the same location where the booking device is used.
Booking Device
In your Ventrata dashboard to Ticket Terminals > Terminals.
Select an existing terminal or create a new terminal.
Select ‘Ventrata external’ under Gateway.

Select ‘Terminals’ under Mode.

Press the Update Terminal button.

Payment Device
In your Ventrata dashboard, go to Ticket Terminals > Terminals.
Select an existing terminal or create a new terminal.
Select ‘Command Only’ under Mode.

Assign a location to the device.

Press the Update Terminal button.

Payment Process
During booking, when you reach the Payment Method page on the booking device, all the command mode payment devices will be displayed below the ‘Card’ payment selection.
Automatic payment
Choose a payment terminal.

Press the Pay Now button at the bottom of the page.
The payment goes through automatically.
A confirmation page is then shown and a new order can be placed on the device.
Manual Pin Entry
Press the slider to turn on Manual Pin Entry.

Press the Pay Now button at the bottom of the page.
An overlay window appears on the screen with a 3-digit Pin.

On the payment device, press the keyboard icon in the top right corner.
Enter the Pin number on the payment device.

Wait until the payment is processed on the booking terminal and a confirmation appears below the Pin number.

A confirmation page is then shown and a new order can be placed on the device.
Backoffice Bookings
Payments using Command Mode can also be made for bookings made from the backoffice.
Prerequisites:
No location is assigned to the payment device
Go to the Ventrata dashboard.
Click the + New Order button in the actions tab at the top.
Select ‘Booking’.

Select a product at minimum.
Select Product
Fill in the booking details.
Press the Checkout button.
Fill in the customer’s details in the Checkout form.
Press the Checkout button on the form.
In the New Payment window, select ‘Charge amount now’.
Select the ‘Credit/Debit Card’ option.
Switch to the Card Terminal tab.
Payment Pin
On the payment device, press the keyboard icon in the top right corner.
Enter the 3-digit PIN on the payment device.

Wait until the payment is processed and the booking is confirmed.
