Known as Clearpay in the UK, this service originates from Australia, where it is known as Afterpay. It operates under the Afterpay brand also in New Zealand, the US and Canada.

With Clearpay, the customer can pay for purchases in four instalments. Before approving the payment, Clearpay performs risk checks on the shopper. If successful, Clearpay takes on the full fraud risk for the payment, and pays you up front.

Clearpay Chargebacks

Clearpay allows customers to initiate chargebacks up to 120 days after the payment, cancellation or expected receipt of goods or services. When Clearpay opens a dispute, you have 13 days to defend or accept the dispute. If you defend the dispute, Clearpay has 30 days to make their decision.

Make sure you are familiar with the Clearpay Chargeback process.

Update Product Settings

Since Clearpay is only available in select countries, it is important the system identifies the customer's country of residence. By following the steps below, you can ensure that customers are prompted to select their country when purchasing your products.

Clearpay will only be offered as a payment method if the selected country matches one of the supported regions.

  1. Log in to your Ventrata dashboard.

  2. Go to Products > Products.

  3. Select a product.

  4. On the product level, go to the Fields tab.

  5. Make sure that the 'Country' field is always required for the Web Checkout channel.

  6. Press the SAVE CHANGES button.

  7. Repeat for each product.

Support/Contact Page URL

Provide the URL to your support or contact page to your Ventrata Payment Operations Specialist, for example https://ventrata.com/contact-us .

Once both conditions,

  • the 'Country' field is required on all your products for the Web Checkout channel,

  • you provided the URL to your Support or Contact page to your Ventrata Payment Operation Specialist,

they will then proceed with the necessary steps for the setup.

They will set up your Clearpay mobile payment solution in Adyen. You will receive a message from Ventrata when your Clearpay payment method is ready and operational.
