Tego Group's Refund Shield enables tour operators and attractions to offer customers the option to make their booking fully refundable by adding an optional checkout upgrade for a fee. Refund Shield helps reduce purchase hesitation, increase basket value, and generate incremental revenue while Tego Group manages the entire refund service. Operators also benefit from visibility into attach rate, conversion, and revenue performance.
In Ventrata, Refund Shield is offered as a Product Extra, configured by the operator according to the commercial agreement and implementation guidance provided by Tego Group. Tego Group then uses the API connection to access your Ventrata booking data, identify bookings where Refund Shield has been applied, and process eligible refund requests.
This connection enables Tego Group to access your Ventrata data via API, allowing them to:
Retrieve all booking data, including customer information.
Receive real-time updates on booking changes as they occur.
Identify bookings where Refund Shield product extra has been applied. Use this data to validate and process eligible refund requests through the Tego Group platform.

Setting up a Tego Group account
You must have a commercial agreement with Tego Group before using this connection.

Review your privacy policy and terms
If applicable, you must cover data sharing with Tego Group in your privacy and/or booking terms.
Connecting Tego Group gives them API access to ALL booking data within your Ventrata account (i.e. not just for bookings with their extra applied), including also customer identifiable information such as names, email addresses, phone numbers, booking details, and any additional customer information collected during the booking process.
It is your responsibility to ensure this data sharing is appropriately disclosed in your Privacy Policy, Terms & Conditions, and any other customer consent or compliance processes required in your jurisdiction. Ventrata does not provide legal advice and accepts no responsibility for ensuring your business complies with applicable privacy or data protection regulations.
Create the API Connection
Create a connection for Tego Group to have API access to read your Ventrata bookings data.
In Ventrata Dashboard, go to Connections → Connections, click + New Connection, and create new Tego Group connection.
(Optional) If needed, you can set connection name of your choice as well as allow/disallow products, destinations or items, if you wish to limit data for which of them Tego Group can access.
Share the OCTO API key shown on the connection you created with your Tego Group contact to complete the setup on their side.
Create the Product Extra
Refund Shield must be configured as a Product Extra on each product where you want to offer it.

Configure Extra Pricing
Configure the Product Extra pricing according to your commercial agreement with Tego Group.
For example, if Refund Shield should be offered at 5% of the booking value, configure the Extra with Percentage pricing and set the value to 5%.

Can I limit Tego Group to only access bookings with Refund Shield applied?
No. This is not possible at this time.
The Tego Group API connection gives them access to all booking data available through the connection, not only bookings where Refund Sheld has been applied. If you have allowlisted specific destinations, products, or units in the connection settings, Tego Group will only have access to booking data within that allowed scope.
Because this connection involves sharing booking and customer data with Tego Group, you should ensure this is clearly covered in your privacy policy, terms and conditions, and any other relevant customer consent or privacy processes.
Can I use this connection with other Tego Group products, such as Air Shield, and Baggage Shield?
Can I use this connection with other Tego Group products, such as Air Shield, and Baggage Shield?
No. The current Ventrata connection only supports Tego Group’s Refund Shield product.
Other Tego Group products, are not supported by this integration. Contact Tego Group if you would like to discuss support for additional products.
Will Tego Group automatically cancel the booking or create a refund transaction in Ventrata?
Will Tego Group automatically cancel the booking or create a refund transaction in Ventrata?
No. Tego Group handles eligible refunds directly with the customer outside of Ventrata.
The integration does not automatically cancel the booking in Ventrata or create a refund transaction. Any required booking cancellation, refund record, or operational update in Ventrata must be managed manually by your team.
