How to Create Product Itineraries for Google Things to do

Create itineraries for your Google Things to do connection.

Updated over a week ago

Google Things to Do (GTTD) is a program that displays tours, tickets, and activities directly on Google Search and Maps for points of interest. By connecting your products to Google via Ventrata, you can gain greater visibility and drive more direct bookings.

Why Itineraries Matter

Itinerary items are submitted to Google as key locations related to your product and help determine where and how your product appears on Google.

πŸ“’ NOTE

Google Acceptance Criteria

To meet Google's acceptance criteria, you must include at least one item marked with a 'Point of Interest' purpose, and provide the following details for each:

  • Address

  • Purpose (set to 'Point of Interest')

  • Admission Allowed (check if applicable)

If you are using Ventrata itineraries only for Google Things to do, you can leave all other itinerary fields blank. You do not need to define

  • Starting Point

  • Ending Point

  • Event Purpose

as they are not used by Google for this purpose.

If your itineraries are used for other purposes beyond GTTD, you can fill in those additional fields as needed.

Create Itinerary

  1. In the Ventrata dashboard, go to Products > Itineraries.

    Products - Itineraries

  2. Press the + New Itinerary button.

  3. Enter a name for the itinerary.

  4. (Optional) Check the 'Official' checkbox if you are the official ticket provider for each item in the itinerary.

    πŸ“’ NOTE

If this is not true for any item in the itinerary, Google will reject the itinerary.

  5. (Optional) Check the 'Operator Direct' checkbox if you are the direct operator (not a reseller).

    πŸ“’ NOTE

This only affects how booking options appear on your business listing.
