This article is a manual on how to use the built-in infrared barcode scanner on the S1F2L payment terminal.
The Castles S1F2L comes with an infrared (IR) barcode scanner, located on the backside of the device. The IR scanner enables significantly faster scanning compared to standard cameras, making it ideal for high-volume environments.
Location of the IR Scanner
Prerequisites:
Make sure that you created a terminal entry for the device in the Ventrata dashboard.
Use your seller PIN to log in to the
Ventrata terminal app on your S1F2L.
Login
Select a location.
Then press the Start Shift button.
Go to the Scan
tab. To scan a ticket, use one of two options:
Press and hold the built-in infrared barcode scanner activation button on the back of the device.

Make sure to hold the button until the ticket is scanned.
Scan Button
Use the IR scanner activation button in the app.

This method is especially useful when the device is in a case that covers the physical button.
Scan
Scan the ticket and proceed as needed.
