Groupon is a global e-commerce marketplace that connects customers with local businesses by offering discounted deals on a wide range of products, services, and experiences. Founded in 2008, Groupon initially gained popularity for its group-buying model, where customers could access limited-time deals at significant discounts by purchasing as a group. Over time, Groupon expanded its offerings to include everything from dining and beauty services to travel, events, and unique experiences, positioning itself as a go-to platform for affordable adventures and daily deals. Groupon operates in multiple countries across North America, Europe, Asia, and South America, with a particularly strong presence in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. This connection enables you to sell your products on Groupon in a more automated way, eliminating the need to manually manage availability, pricing and bookings. Capabilities of this connection allow you to:

  • Sync availability, pricing for your Groupon products with Ventrata.

  • Receive bookings, updates, cancellations from Groupon to Ventrata.

  • Issue vouchers/tickets from Ventarta to Groupon customers instantly.

Creating Connection

Before you begin:

  • You must have a commercial agreement with Groupon to sell their products. To inquire about partnering with them contact them by submitting a form via https://www.groupon.com/merchant/things-to-do.

  • You must have Groupon created as a Reseller in Ventrata with their pricing (retail, wholesale/commission) defined correctly. Note that this API connection requires that reseller is set to "Bill to my account" settlement method.

  1. In Ventrata Dashboard, go to Connections → Connections, click + New Connection, and select Groupon from the list of partners.

  2. Select Groupon Reseller from the list of your resellers (must be created before creating connection). The connection will inherit reseller's configuration like pricing, whitelisted destinations, products, etc.

  3. (Optional) You can also set the connection Name of your choosing, which may be helpful if you plan to have multiple Groupon connections and would like to differentiate between them more easily in the future. If needed, you can also whitelist/blacklist products or destinations on the connection level in addition to what you have configured on the reseller, which can be helpful if you have multiple Groupon connections linked to one reseller.

Mapping Products

  1. Email the OCTO API key shown on the connection you've created to your Groupon contact and ask for them to map your products using Ventrata's OCTO API. Typically it takes no longer than a few business days for the Groupon team to complete this.

  2. (Optional) While Groupon team can access the full list of products you've enabled for them on the connection, you can also specify which product you would like them to map by providing the Product and Option IDs displayed on the connection page when you contact them.
