How to Configure the PAX A35 PINpad

Learn how to assemble and configure the PAX A35 PINpad.

The PAX A35 is a high-performance PINpad, easily integrated into desktop POS systems.


Prerequisites:

  • The device is configured in the PAX store.

  • The device is assembled and connected to the network via ethernet cable.

  • The device is plugged into a power outlet or fully charged.

  • The Ventrata terminal app is pushed to the device.

Set up Device with Viva Wallet

  1. Open the Viva Wallet app.

  2. Allow all permissions on the screen for full functionality.

  3. Once Ethernet is connected, tap the Continue button.

  4. Select the device language.

  5. When connected, on the activation screen, press the User Activation Code button.

  6. Copy the code displayed on the screen.

  7. On your computer, log into your Viva Wallet Members page.

  8. Go to Sales > Physical Payments.

  9. Select 'Card Terminals'.

  10. Press the New Card Terminal button.

  11. Copy the activation code into the 'Device code' field.

  12. Then, press Next.

  13. Check the account name on the device.

  14. Press the Continue button if the account name is correct.

  15. The set up is successfully completed when the Viva Wallet menu appears onscreen.

  16. Return to the main screen.

  17. The Ventrata terminal app should be already installed.

Create Terminal

The PAX A35 is used in Command Only mode with the Ventrata terminal app. To use the device, create a terminal entry for the device in the Ventrata dashboard.

Learn more about Command Only mode.

  1. Go to Ticket Terminals > Terminals.

  2. If you use Destinations, select the destination for which you want to add the new terminal.

  3. Press the + New Terminal button.

  4. Enter โ€˜Nameโ€™.


    ๐Ÿ“— TIP

    Make sure to enter a descriptive name so the device is easily recognised in the list.


  5. Enter the deviceโ€™s serial number.


    ๐Ÿ“— TIP

    You can find the Serial Number on the back of the device (copy the number following S/N).


  6. Check or change the destination in which the terminal device will be used.

  7. Select the appropriate payment gateway.

  8. Select the Command only mode.

  9. Assign a location to the device.

  10. Press the Create Terminal button.

  11. Assign the newly created payment terminal to the POS it is attached to.
