How to Sell Gift Cards through the Ventrata Terminal App

Gift cards are prepaid vouchers that can be purchased by customers and then used as a form of payment for experiences.

Gift cards typically have a stored value that can be used across multiple transactions until the balance is depleted, for example, for an experience or a gift shop item. Gift cards are often used as gifts for friends, family, or colleagues, allowing recipients the flexibility to choose their own items or experiences.

With Ventrata, customers can purchase gift vouchers for any desired amount. These vouchers can be then used to purchase any product from your offerings.

Set up Gift Card Parameters

Specify gift card parameters, such as minimum value amount and expiry period.

  1. In the Ventrata dashboard, go to Supplier Settings > Supplier Settings .

  2. Press the EDIT DETAILS button.

  3. Scroll down the supplier detail form or search for 'Gift Card Min Amount'.

  4. Enter the minimum and/or maximum value of gift cards.

    The same amount will be shown in all currencies. This value is not converted.


  5. Set the expiration period in days, month or years.

Enable Gifts at Location

Make sure 'Allow Gifts' is enabled on each location where you want to sell gift cards.

  1. In your Ventrata dashboard, go to Ticket Terminals > Locations.

  2. Select your location or create a new one.

  3. Scroll down the form or search for 'Allow Gifts'.

  4. Check the 'Allow Gifts' box to enable gift sales.

  5. Press the Update Location button to save your changes.

Sell Gift Cards

You are ready to sell gift cards using the Ventrata terminal app.

  1. In the Ventrata terminal app, go to the Sales tab.

  2. Tap Gift Card.

  3. Enter the value of the gift card in the 'Amount' field.

  4. Then, tap Add.

  5. Select how will the gift card be delivered to the customer:

    ​

    • Send via Email - sent to the customer's email address

    • Send via SMS - select country code and enter phone number

    • Send via QR code - generated on your device

    • Print Tickets - prints a physical gift receipt

  6. Select a payment method:

    • Card

    • Cash - enter the amount received from the customer in the 'Amount tendered' field, in the next step the app will calculate the change for the customer

    • Gift Card - scan the card's QR code or enter its reference number using the app keyboard

    • Other - manually enter the method's reference number in the 'Reference' field

    You can split payments into equal parts using the 'Split payment' option.

  7. Tap the Pay Now button to complete the transaction.

  8. A confirmation page will appear, and a gift card will be printed if a printer is available.

Redeem Gift Cards

Customers can use gift cards as a form of payment, redeemable through points of sale.

  1. Create a new booking.

  2. On the Payment Method page, select Gift Card.

  3. Enter the Gift Card reference.

  4. Tap the Pay Now button.

  5. If the gift card does not covert he full amount, select an additional payment method.

    Always enter the reference number not the order number.

    For emailed gift cards, the code appears next to the GIFT CARD CODE. Include this code on the printed gift receipt as well.
