How to Create Routes

Routes are collections of pickup and dropoff points arranged in the order the driver picks up or drops off customers.

Create New Pickup Route

A pickup route consists of pickup points created beforehand.

Prerequisites:

  • Pickups for the destination exist in the Ventrata dashboard.

📗 TIP

  1. In the Ventrata dashboard, go to Pickups > Routes.

  2. Press the + New Pickup Route button.

  3. Enter a 'Name' for the route.

  4. Enter the start time of the journey on this route.

  5. Enter a group identifier to group together bookings for this route.


    📗 TIP

    Groups help organise bookings and provide a clearer overview when creating dispatches, as bookings are automatically grouped for easier assignment.


  6. Select an area, or type a new area name and press Enter to add it.


    📗 TIP

    Areas group nearby pickup points into zones, making it easier to organise and manage operations. The naming can be derived from your destination zoning plan or any custom naming convention that suits your operation.

    Areas can also be used to filter and sort bookings, helping you quickly identify and assign them when managing dispatches.

  7. Press the Add Stop button to start adding stops along the route.

  8. Enter the 'From' time, which indicates when the ride arrives at the pickup point.

  9. Optionally, enter the 'To' time to specify when the ride leaves the pickup point.

  10. Select a pickup point from the list of existing pickup points.

  11. Repeat steps 6.-9. for each new stop.

  12. Press the Create Route button.

Create New Dropoff Route

A dropoff route consists of dropoff points created beforehand.

Prerequisites:

  • Dropoff points for the destination exist in the Ventrata dashboard.

  1. In the Ventrata dashboard, go to Pickups > Routes.

  2. Press the + New Dropoff Route button.

  3. Enter a 'Name' for the route.

  4. Enter the start time of the journey on this route.

  5. Enter a group identifier to group together bookings for this route.

Add Route to Tour

Routes are added to tours to suggest pickup and/or dropoff points to costumers during booking, based on address search.

📒 NOTE

If the product also has options, make sure that 'Pickup Allowed' and/or 'Dropoff Allowed' are enabled at a minimum.

Options Settings

  1. In your Ventrata dashboard, go to Products > Products.

  2. Select an existing product.

  3. Go to the Tours tab.

  4. Press the pen and paper icon next to an existing tour.

  5. Check the 'Pickup Available' and/or 'Dropoff Available' boxes as appropriate.

  6. In the 'Routes' field, select the route(s) you want to associate with the tour.

    ⛔️ WARNING

    DO NOT assign two routes to the same tour that share the same pickup or dropoff point, as this may cause the product to stop working properly on certain channels.


  7. Press the Update Tour button to save your changes.
